Looking for the most comfortable Ikea sofa? Since reviews are all over the place, we’ve decided to compile a heavily researched (and tested by 5 reviewers) list of the most comfortable sofas from Ikea.
One cool feature about Ikea sofas is that they sell sofa covers for most of their models. These will change the look of your couch for significantly cheaper than buying a new couch!
However, shopping for a sofa at Ikea can be tough. When you search all their sofas online, over 200 results come up! On top of that, reviews for most of these are all over the place. So, how do you find the most comfortable Ikea sofa?
Tips for Finding the Most Comfortable Ikea Sofa
The most comfortable sofa for one person can be an entirely different experience for other people. So, here are a few tips to help you test for yourself.
Test It Out In-Person
Even if you take down a few models from our list, it’s still very important to test them out in-person. Although most Ikea sofas aren’t too expensive, they’re still a good chunk of change, so you’ll want to make sure you love it before purchasing.
However, we do recommend buying online after viewing in-store because it’s such a hassle to drag home furniture from the store (especially if you live in an apartment).
Ikea offers a delivery service where they will actually bring large pieces of furniture into your room of choice (just make sure to tip them) for just $49 extra for large items, or $5 extra for small items. This is well worth it if you have some tough stairs to get up!
Material
It’s also a great idea to be aware of what material is used in the couch you’re interested in. For example, memory foam is often more comfortable than alternative materials.
Look Into Sleeper Sofas
Since sleeper sofas or sofa beds are literally intended to act as a bed, they tend to be more comfortable than a regular old sofa. They do tend to be more expensive, but it might be worth it if you have the budget!
Most Comfortable Ikea Sofas
Vimle
$1,099
Although pricier than most other Ikea sofas, this 3-seater sofa is worth the extra cost.
They have 6 different colors and are definitely one of the top three most comfortable Ikea sofas! If you need something a little bigger, they also have a 4-seat model and a convenient sofa bed!
Kivik
$899
Another of the Ikea sofas rated most comfortable by thousands of people is the Kivik. It’s pretty similar to the Vimle, with a few differences (the main one being the cheaper price). It’s also pretty firm, so it’s probably not the best choice if you love a couch that you’ll sink into.
We especially love the huge 5-seater, which costs less than $1,500. View more from the Kivik series.
Stocksund
$699
The cute Stocksund sofa is made with deep, pocket-spring cushions. It’s definitely one of their more comfortable options and is perfect for snuggling up.
The biggest complaint from reviewers was that it didn’t last long (more than a couple of years), but that’s not a surprise at this price point.
Ektorp
$399
Although not the prettiest sofa around, the Ektorp is one of the most affordable couches that lasts far longer than you’d expect. It’s very comfortable with thick, cozy cushions.
Although a little too small to nap on and more firm than you’d expect, it’s still a great sitting couch.
Stockholm
$2,299
If you want a leather couch and have the money to spend, the Stockholm is well worth it. It’s made of high-quality leather that will last for years and years. It’s a beautiful couch that looks amazing in a bohemian space.
The soft leather is super comfortable, but can be damaged easily if you have pets with sharp nails, so proceed with caution.
Lidhult
$749
This versatile sofa has plenty of options for any price range, from single chairs to 5-seater sofas to luxurious leather sofas. We shared one of the cheaper options, but they can reach up to $2,000 (view them all).
Whichever you choose, they’re all built to be well-cushioned and comfortable.
Harlanda
$1,599
This spacious sectional is just as comfortable as it looks. With plenty of space for the entire family and extra storage under the ottomans, it’s worth the investment.
They have other models including a smaller (and cheaper) sofa, larger corner sofa beds, or even single pieces so you can build your own. View the entire Harlanda collection!
